Acupuncture and Acupressure

The art and science of acupuncture has been around for thousands of years. Hair-thin needles are skillfully inserted into points along channels of life-force energy called "meridians" to re-establish a harmonious functioning of the human bodymind. There are various schools of acupuncture each with its own history and needling techniques. The points may also be activated by acupressure. See more at Acupuncture.

Tui Na

Tui Na (pronounced "two-AY nah") is a traditional adjunctive therapy in both the treatment of and prevention of disease. Tui Na literally means push and hold. It can be used in painful syndromes, abdominal and digestive complaints, women's and men's issues, colds and flus, and many other types of illnesses. It is based upon channel and muscular meridian theory. There are several techniques that can be used from simple massage techniques to more acupressure styles. Simple Tui Na techniques can be used by patients at home and can be a powerful adjunctive method in their recovery.

Chinese Herbs

Formulas are made from groupings of 3 to 25 medicinals, tailored for each unique individual in such a way as to alleviate the condition and mitigate potential side effects. Their effectiveness has been proven by literally up to 2,500 years of clinical practice. See more information at Chinese Herbs.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy using moxa made from dried mugwort. It plays an important role in the traditional medical systems of China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Suppliers usually age the mugwort and grind it up to a fluff. Practitioners burn the fluff or process it into a cigar-shaped stick (see example). Moxa can be used with acupuncture needles or burned near the patient's skin.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Techniques (aka “Tapping") is a fairly recently-developed system for releasing energetic blockages that has its roots in the theory and practice of acupuncture. EFT involves tapping acupressure points combined with verbal cues to support an unwinding of old mental/emotional patterns held in the neural networks, cells, tissues, and energetic channels of the bodymind — and replacement of those restrictive patterns with new belief systems which flow in a truer alignment with Reality, with the Truth of who we are. Clearing of fear and other “stuck” emotional energy from the meridian system to prevent those stagnations from manifesting as physical disease works in a way very similar to T'ai Chi and Qigong.

The Wellness At Your Fingertips site quotes Eric Leskowitz, M.D., Department of Psychiatriatry at the Havard Medical School as saying: "As a practicing psychiatrist with over 25 years of clinical experience, I see EFT as the most promising new treatment I've ever encountered."

Dr. Joseph Mercola says: “Nothing comes closer to 'magic' than the positive results I have personally witnessed using EFT on thousands of my patients who suffered from physical and emotional pain and illness.”

The 6th Annual World Tapping Summit was held February 24 — March 5, 2014. The annual event is sponsored by Nick Ortner, author of the 2013 NYTimes best-selling book and DVD The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living. This free summit has been attended by over 500,000 people.

See The Tapping Solution YouTube video for more information about this powerful technique which is based on ancient Chinese medicine but is revolutionizing modern American mental and physical healthcare.

The EFT Manual by Dawson Church, Ph.D. shows that EFT is one of the most popular psychology self-help methods, used by over 10 million people worldwide.

Auricular Therapy

Auricular (ear) Therapy, commonly called “Ear Seeds Therapy”, is a form of acupuncture that consists of the insertion of tiny needles or small “ear seeds” in various external parts of the ear. One explanation of how auricular therapy works is that the stimulation of certain nerves on the ear may send signals to the brain that generate a “response” to the corresponding part of the body to be treated. It may also stimulate a general bodily relaxation. Auricular Therapy has been used successfully to treat a wide variety of conditions, including depression, insomnia, anxiety, obesity, smoking addiction, alcohol or drug addiction, arthritis or back pain, and high blood pressure.
