Magic of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

New York Acupuncture Healthcare

We have used Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) in our New York Acupuncture Healthcare offices in Manhattan and Westchester with remarkable results for a number of years. It is a very simple, yet incredibly powerful, technique that anyone can learn easily and apply in times of stress or pain to often find quick relief.

EFT involves tapping 9 key points on the body based on acupuncture points and the ancient mind/body principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). EFT, also known as “Tapping”, is explained in the 2013 book and DVD called The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living by Nick Ortner.

The 6th Annual World Tapping Summit, sponsored by Ornter, was held February 24 — March 5, 2014. The annual event has been attended by over 500,000 people. The EFT healing technique combines Western psychology and the 5,000-year-old science of acupuncture. It uses the Chinese medicine meridian system with a gentle tapping procedure that stimulates meridian points on the face and body while focusing on emotional memories and/or physical pains.

EFT utilizes psychology and your energy field (called “chi” in TCM) to clear a painful memory so the emotional charge is removed. You can still remember what happened, but the event has no more hurt, fear, or anger connected with it. Once a memory is cleared of its emotional charge, the emotional and/or physical pain is often permanently removed.

The Wellness At Your Fingertips site quotes Eric Leskowitz, M.D., Department of Psychiatriatry at the Havard Medical School as saying: "As a practicing psychiatrist with over 25 years of clinical experience, I see EFT as the most promising new treatment I've ever encountered." Dr. Joseph Mercola (founder of Mercola.com, the most visited natural health site in the world) says: “Nothing comes closer to 'magic' than the positive results I have personally witnessed using EFT on thousands of my patients who suffered from physical and emotional pain and illness.”

Candace Pert, Ph.D., author of Molecules of Emotion says: “EFT is at the forefront of the new healing movement.” Jack Canfield, co-author of the bestselling book The Success Principles describes EFT as: "the most powerful transformational technology to come along in years." Becoming More Self-Aware and Reducing Stress EFT helps make people more conscious of their thoughts including the background “programs” running perhaps even since childhood or some key event that may be affecting their emotional and physical health today. It also helps us become aware of and release strongly felt emotions such as shame, guilt, and fears that may be socially and/or physically crippling.

Finally, EFT helps people get in touch (literally) with their bodies – to take note of how the body is feeling. In helping people become more aware of their thoughts and feelings, EFT gives people the power to resolve negative ideas and emotions and to choose empowering ones. Through simple tapping and repetition of key phrases,

EFT is a technique that provides emotional freedom as well and physical healing. Stress is understood to underlie many mental, emotional, and physical problems. EFT gives people a simple tool to help reduce many kinds of stress. EFT helps people take control of their lives.

EFT Promotes Self-Acceptance

The starting phrase in the Emotional Freedom Techniques focuses on acceptance of yourself as you are now with whatever mental, emotional, physical, social, and/or financial problems you may have. In that way, EFT helps people break through denial and self-put-downs or put-downs by others. It reduces the paralyzing demands of judgmental perfectionism. It phrases problems simply as challenges to be faced and resolved rather than as reflections on our self-worth. That self-acceptance alone helps to lower stress immediately.

EFT teaches us that we are OK just as we are – even with problems and challenges.Unconditional self-acceptance is the foundation of being able to give unconditional love to others. So, EFT helps to heal families, neighborhoods, communities, organizations, the nation – and the world. It promotes tolerance while encouraging excellence through providing the tools for growth and improvement.

EFT Encourages Relaxation With self-acceptance and the reduction of stress facilitated by EFT also comes a greater sense of relaxation and ease. The body is able to heal more easily in a relaxed state and people who feel relaxed are more likely to be optimistic and agreeable in dealing with others. EFT helps generates an atmosphere of peace. When people have higher sense of self-esteem and feel more at ease, they are more likely to make more rational, productive choices and decisions. They able to be more reliable and dependable. So, people practicing EFT make better partners, parents, friends, and co-workers. The Tapping Solution YouTube video provides additional information about this powerful technique which is based on the concepts of ancient Chinese medicine but is revolutionizing modern American mental and physical healthcare.

The EFT Manual by Dawson Church, Ph.D. shows that EFT is one of the most popular psychology self-help methods, used by over 10 million people worldwide. Note: Do only what feels good. Don’t try to resolve overwhelming emotional or physical issues alone.
